Your Daughter’s Coach Needs Your Help!

There are lots of ways to help your daughter’s team and coach, even if you don’t know the first thing about fast-pitch softball. Coaches have a lot on their plates like organizing and executing practice plans, creating batting and defensive lineups, hauling team equipment; not to mention, actually coaching the girls. Don’t hesitate to offer some of your time and talents to help your daughter’s coaches with one of the following tasks:

• Taking snack orders- Each Spring season, HGSA offers a snack plan to the girls to have a snack and drink after the game. Snack orders are taken before each game and then given to the concession stand who provide the drinks and snacks after the game.
  
• Field Prep – If you are able to be at the field about 30 minutes before game time, your coach needs help preparing the softball field when a game is scheduled. These fields need to be lined and sometimes have the bases placed.
• Dugout Coach – Making sure the players are batting in the right order and remind them how to keep their equipment organized and easy to find. It is also helpful to “gear up” the next catcher when your team receives the 2nd out of the inning and encourage her to leave the shin guards on until she is on-deck if she is catching 2 innings in a row.
• Scorekeeper – Keeping score takes a little practice but the official scorebook simply needs players in the batting order with outs and runs scored. It would also be helpful if you were to email the final score to the Division League Agent.
• Game Recap- After each game, the home team is responsible for providing pictures and a game recap with division, team names and score to the Social Media coordinator, Tara Lavin, [email protected]. This is used for HGSA's Facebook and Instagram pages.
